Get Shit Done
I could go on forever about how to be productive, my main thing is loving what I do. I know, that sounds so cheesy, but when I am home, I sit on the computer and build websites, this is what I do in my free time. Love what you do, and you'll be good at it.
I want to share with you what I do everyday subconsiously without thinking about it. I like to round things to the nearest million, but in this case I will give you TEN steps to a productive day. I’ll keep these short and sweet.
1. Don’t procrastinate-
I know, I know, it is so easy to do but don’t! The reason is that if you purposely procrastanate, you will get more phone calls. Phone calls means distraction, and distractions break productivity. Its like if you give a moose a muffin, if you give your clients changes done on a timely manner, they won’t call you bugging you about them. If you get them done right the first time, they won’t bug you to fix them.
So if you procrastinate at work, you will get phone calls after phone calls, if you get phone calls you become frusrated, if you become frusrated, your negative energy effects everyone around, when everyone else feeds off you negative energy, everyone has a really long day, when you have a really long day, your significant other has to hear about it, if your significant other has to hear about it, they make you sleep on the couch, when you sleep on the couch, you don't get enough sleep, and when you don't get enough sleep, your procrastinate at work...And then the cylce repeats.
2: Come up with a Work Flow or Rhythm
Routines will save your life. No one likes to get stuck on one thing all day, thats how you become stuck in tunnel vision. Here is my daily work day plan that helps me get motivated.
Step 3: Personalize your site
You can have many different add ons to your site, its completely up to you. Some of these items might have to be a third party, you can always change it later.
Step 4: Imagery
Photos are worth 1000 words. Let them describe your business. This can be changed later, but sometimes its best to get a visual right off the bat.
Step 5: Typography
You will want to pick out two browser friendly font faces, I suggest google fonts. This may seem like a little thing, but choosing the right font could make or break your website. You have options:
Step 6: Pick your budget
Step 7: Deadline
I want you to be happy with your site, so pick a deadline that you think is realistic for a great site. Think about a realistic time for yourself, remember content will have o be written.
Step 8: Inspiration
List a few sites that you love. Inspiration websites are the best thing for custom design.
Step 9: Color Scheme
I know color schemes are important. I would like to help you get the perfect site, color schemes are important for your branding.
Step 10: Search Engine Optimization
